Eid Prayers Advice

Eid-ul-Fitr 1441 will be on Sunday 24 May or Monday 25 May depending on the physical sighting of the new moon on Saturday 23 May after Maghrib. A message will be displayed on this website around Esha time (10.15 pm) on the evening of Saturday 23 May InshaAllah confirming the day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Please ensure you have paid your Sadaqat-ul-Fitr before the day of Eid. The rate is £2.50 per head. As Greenbank Masjid is closed this year due to the lockdown, please make your own arrangements.

As Greenbank Masjid is closed, there will be NO Eid prayers taking place at the premises of Greenbank Masjid. In these circumstances, the Imam Suleman Wadee has advised the following:

1. If there are at least 4 Adult males (above the age of puberty) in a household, then the Eid Prayer may take place at the house (assuming one of the Adult males is able to lead the Eid prayers).

2. If the above is not possible, then 2 or 4 rakaats of individual Nafl prayers may be performed during the time of the Eid prayer (between 5.30 am and 1 pm).

Coronavirus Announcement

Asalaamulaikum Parent/Guardian,

As you are most likely aware there is currently a COVID-19 (a viral illness) outbreak in the U.K and across much of the globe. This is a serious illness which the World Health Organisation has declared a pandemic. Due to the infectious nature of this illness/how easily it can be spread to others  and the risk it poses to human health, the Masjid Management Committee has with a heavy heart taken the decision to close the madrassa in order to safeguard the well being of our children.

In order to ensure children’s learning is not significantly disrupted as a result of this, we are in the process of organising the continuation of classes via the internet. We will contact you in the near future inshAllah once details of the internet learning have been finalised.

If you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to get in touch with the teachers at the Madrassa or the Masjid Management Committee. I would also like to use this opportunity to remind you of current government guidelines for people with a high temperature or a continuous cough to self isolate at home as they may have COVID-19.

This is a difficult situation and I hope you understand that we have not taken this decision lightly, but our aim is to safeguard the community and the population at large. We pray Allah protects us from this illness, cures those are afflicted with it and removes it from our midst swiftly.

JazakAllahu Khairan.

Masjid Management Committee.
